The judicial system of Jamnagar is over 150 years old with the first District and Sessions court being established in the year 1864.  At present Jamnagar city has a separate Civil and Labor court in addition to ‘Taluka’ courts in all major administrative divisions of Jamnagar district. The Jamnagar district court acts as the apex judiciary body for all ‘Taluka’ courts. Jamnagar boasts an average literacy rate of 83% which is greater than the national average of 59%.
